Introduction

Renault Clio

The Renault Clio range of superminis is made up of three-door and five-door hatchbacks and a tourer estate with the option of petrol or diesel engines and automatic or manual transmissions. On the road prices start at £9,995 and go all the way up to £16,895.

The 1.2 Turbo 100 TCE has a maximum speed of 114mph and an economical combined fuel consumption of 47.9mpg. The Renault Clio 1.6 VVT 128 travels from 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds with a maximum speed of 122mph and combined fuel consumption of 40.9mpg. The diesel powered Renault Clio III 1.5dCi 106bhp version will do 0-62mph in 11.1 seconds with a maximum speed of 118mph and a highly economical combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg.

The Renault Clio Dynamique has a more sporty look than its stable-mates and offers a choice of 1.2litre 16v 75bhp 1.2 TCe turbocharged petrol engine or 86bhp 1.5litre dCi diesel, which achieves 0-60mph in 12.7 seconds, a maximum speed of 108mph and an economical combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg.

The Renault Clio Renault Sport 200, as the name suggests, takes this car to even sportier extremes with 0-60mph coming up in just 6.9 seconds, a maximum speed of 141mph and combined fuel consumption of 34.5mpg. The Renault Clio Sport Tourer is the estate model in the range, which makes it useful for families who need extra space for luggage.

The Renault Clio World Series is named after the ‘World Series By Renault’ competition. The main features of this model are cosmetic rather than performance related, with a sportier appearance being the main selling point.

The Renault Clio is not a high performance car, but successfully does what it is designed to do.
